The Chapter twinning program was begun when California and the British Cardiovascular Society began a relationship resulting in exchanging of education and ideas. At that time, there were no International ACC Chapters. Since then, several International Chapters have been established including ones in Brazil, the UK and Ireland, Malaysia and many others approved and still others under discussion.
States are now conducting talks about establishing twinning relationships within their own Chapters. This program is conducted through the International Department at ACC who is responsible for setting the guidelines for a successful twinning relationship with the assistance of the Chapters staff.
