In late 2007, the BOT approved a new initiative to incubate new and emerging chapters during their developmental years to establish a strong foundation for these chapters. ACC staff serves as their Chapter Executive during this time period, thereby allowing them to save up reserve funds normally spent on salaries for hired staff during this incubation period. This also allows for a stronger relationship between these new chapters and ACC National, and educates chapter officers on how a chapter should function to be successful, as well as educating staff on the day to day challenges of managing chapters.
The chapters currently in this program are: Alaska, Delaware, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Great Plains (ND, SD) and Utah. We are in the process of creating chapters in the last remaining regions. We are looking forward to when ACC members in every part of the country will have access to the many benefits that Chapters offer.
